Dr. William W.
Wilson
Senior Advisor Agricultural Economics
Dr. William Wilson is a world-renowned authority in
agricultural economics and the recipient of numerous
awards for his research on topics related to grain marketing
and economics. His career includes over 20 years within
the academic community in the heart of the North American
grain-growing sector conducting extensive research for
various government organizations around the world. In
addition to his work for First Key, he is a Professor
of Agricultural Economics and an active advisor to governments,
brewing and malting industries and scientific organizations
around the world and has published over 200 research
papers and review articles.

Teaching and Research Interests
Dr. Wilson's primary area of interest is agribusiness
strategy and devotes most of his teaching and research
to topics related to the grain marketing industries.
This includes topics and issues related to:
- procurement management (by importers and
domestic processors)
- firm management in grain marketing industries
- transportation--notably commercialization
strategies with respect to evolving rail car
options--for both railroads and shippers;
- grain quality, particularly problems and
issues confronting processors and traders associated
with quality uncertainty, disease and increased
specificity
- US/Canada trade and marketing issues

Experience
Dr. Wilson is an active consultant to approximately
20 private sector international organizations, including
Anheuser-Busch, Polar Breweries, Miller Brewing, Canada
Malting, and Canadian National Railway. He has been
the recipient of nearly 50 major research contracts
and has spearheaded special projects for government
organizations in Canada, U.S., Australia, and Russia.
During the period 1991-1996, Dr Wilson was a co-leader
of a joint USDA/OICD project on privatization of the
Russian grain marketing industry. In later years he
summarized much of his work on the world malt trade
to the OECD. His numerous research articles on Russian
Grain Trading and Marketing are well known within the
agribusiness community. Dr. Wilson was recognized in
1995 as one of the "Top Ten" agricultural
economists by the industry publication, AgWeek.
